Welcome to my consulting practice in Psychiatry & Psychotherapy for Adults, Adolescents and
Since completing psychiatry residency in 1987 I have worked for over 30 years as a clinician, teacher and researcher (see here for more details). I moved to the Bay Area in 2001 to join the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Stanford University, where I was Director of the Child & Adolescent Depression Clinic from 2003 to 2010.
As a psychiatrist, board-certified in both General Adult Psychiatry and in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, I have expertise in diagnosis and in the medical aspects of treatment. I also believe strongly in the central importance of expert psychotherapy and have special expertise in psychotherapy with children, adolescents & young adults.
I have extensive experience, both locally and nationally, as a consultant to child & adolescent primary care
and medical settings. I have worked throughout my career as a clinical teacher and supervisor for trainees and colleagues in mental
health disciplines, most recently as an adjunct faculty member at Stanford.
